Q & A - Common Questions and Answers

I hope that I can answer your most common questions about our policies and getting married.

  • Q: We need our marriage license right away to put my spouse on my work's health and life insurance policy. How do I ensure that we get her marriage license back quickly?

A: I suggest that you complete your final payment to Palm Beach Weddings, LLC with certified funds, like a cashiers check or a postal money order and I can give you a receipt for cash, if you wish to pay in that method. If you are going back to the courthouse I can give you the completed marriage license for you to file and you should pay the fee and get a certified copy of your marriage license to get to the health insurance company provider. Both spouses should be present when you go to the courthouse to present the completed marriage license to be filed with the court.

Some of the healthcare insurance companies are now requiring a court issued certified copy of the marriage license within 30 days of your marriage in order for you to gain coverage for your spouse.

Sometimes the courthouse will not even file a return of your license until 5 to 6 weeks after receiving your marriage license. You would not get your marriage license back from the County court until after the open period of enrollment as a new event.

This would mean that the insurance company can deny any claims for healthcare of your spouse and not allow health coverage for  them until the next open enrollment. This sounds like another insurance company scam and I know one couple that been burned by this. But of course our elected officials let these companies get away with this.
